Hiring process - step by step
Nobody is ever thrilled to go through the selection process for a new job, so to make it easier for you, here is what to expect while applying for an engineering job at Infobip.
Our Talent Acquisition Specialists are here to support you throughout the whole process, so don't be shy – ask anything that's on your mind.
We really try to put you in the focus and give you direct and regular feedback during the whole process. While we cannot promise that we will hire you, we can make the process a positive experience.
Step 1: Screening interview, 30 minutes
The first interview, usually also called the screening interview, is a general get-to-know-you conversation. We use it to better understand your experience, the way you work, the tech stack you are strongest in, and how you collaborate with your team.
Before this conversation, you will likely hear from our Talent Acquisition team to arrange a suitable time. This is a good moment to polish and update your CV or LinkedIn profile. Feel free to choose one or both, and send it to us before the interview.
You will need a laptop with a camera, as we would really like to see you. You will receive the interview invitation via email as a Microsoft Teams link with all relevant details. You don't need to have an account; you can simply connect via your go-to browser.
We will start with a short general introduction about Infobip, since we would like you to know who we are. Then we will continue with a short overview of your current and past experience, and you will guide us through some specific projects and your role in them.
We like to talk about tech, so some of the topics we'll cover will include:
- what tech stack you're using and which technologies you find interesting
- your knowledge and practical experience with different types of architecture
- your coding practices – how you test your code, deploy it, monitor it, and scale it
- how you use AI in your everyday work
Don't worry, this of course depends on your seniority level, so we do not expect to hear everything.
We would also like to hear how you work in teams and how you organize your work. Do you work in agile or some other framework?
Finally, we will talk about what motivates you, what you expect from this position, present you with opportunities in Infobip, and answer any questions you might have. And yes, we will discuss expectations regarding salary and benefits, and let you know where it fits for us.
You can expect us to reach out with feedback within 2-5 days and arrange the next step.
Step 2: Technical interview, 90-120 minutes
During this step, you'll get the opportunity to meet our Software Engineers and also talk to our Talent Acquisition team once more.
To prepare, refresh your knowledge and consider the technologies you use daily, as well as the fundamental concepts surrounding them. And try to relax — interviews are always stressful, but we're trying to keep this part conversational.
We will talk mostly about tech. After you provide a brief introduction about your experience, we will delve a bit more into the technologies you are using and how well you are familiar with them. We promise not to ask random questions and definitions that you had to learn for your university exams. We focus on what is relevant for our everyday work and your understanding of how to solve some problems using technology.
This is an opportunity for you to get to know us a bit better. We always say it is not an interrogation, but a conversation, so please feel free to ask any questions along the way.
For this interview, it's best if you prepare an IDE or a codesharing tool as there will be some coding practice or algorithm challenges that may differ depending on the tech stack and position. You will receive all the necessary information from our Talent Acquisition team prior to the interview to prepare and avoid any stress. We would like to take this opportunity for you to meet the rest of the team and ask any questions you may have about us and our way of working.
We typically do our best to come back with feedback within 2-5 days.
Step 3: Final interview, 2x 60 minutes
The final stage consists of two interviews that we usually try to do back-to-back: one is the final interview with the Hiring Manager and the HR (or, as we call them in Infobip, POP) representative, and the other is the Bar Raiser interview. Each usually lasts for 60 minutes.
We actually do not want you to prepare for this final step in any specific way. We might meet live or online. Our Talent Acquisition Specialist will provide you with additional information.
During the final interview, we want to ensure our Engineering Manager gets to know you a bit better, focusing on your expectations, motivation, career development, and previous challenges that helped you become an Engineer. Even though this step is mostly focused on exploring our mutual fit for each other and our expectations from both sides, our Engineering Managers sometimes like to delve into more technical questions to gain a better insight into how you think and approach different situations. So, do not be surprised if you have to give your brain a little exercise during this stage. We would like you to have all the information before both you and we make a decision. We do not ask trick questions. This interview includes complementary feedback from both sides.
The second part of the Final interview loop is the Bar Raiser interview. A Bar Raiser is an impartial team member (typically from a different engineering team) who brings an objective perspective to the hiring process. This person is not directly involved in the hiring team and serves to ensure fairness, consistency, and alignment with Infobip's engineering standards. You can expect this conversation to be around situational questions
This additional step provides an unbiased evaluation and helps ensure that every hiring decision supports our long-term goals and team culture.
If possible, we try to meet candidates in person at least once for one of the interview stages, depending on where our interviewers are sitting.
The selection process typically follows this format 90% of the time, but some roles and processes require a more unique approach. This may mean an additional interview. We remain flexible and keep you informed throughout every step, ensuring you have the best possible candidate experience.
