IPCEI
At Infobip, our work as engineers is not limited to coding new features and delivering production-grade software. Through our participation in the IPCEI-CIS (Important Project of Common European Interest on Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services - we know, it's a mouthful!), we are actively contributing to one of Europe's major efforts to build sovereign, secure, and sustainable AI-powered cloud infrastructure.
The project enables us to closely collaborate with major European tech and telco organizations, including Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica, Orange, Airbus, and Siemens, as well as research institutions and universities, such as the University of Twente, Gottingen, Kosice, and Graz - to name a few! Our shared goal is to build the European cloud-edge continuum: infrastructure where cloud and edge resources can work together across providers, geographies, and use cases.
For us, this project is aligned with our AI research direction. Being a part of our AI Engineering team also means tackling research issues in areas such as:
- Conversational AI
- AI for Voice and Audio Processing
- Fair and Trustworthy AI
- Spam and Fraud Detection
- Generative Models
- AI Infra and Systems Design
In the context of IPCEI-CIS, this means our engineering work is not focused only on shipping new products, but also on broadening the scientific and industrial progress in AI-powered communication. Being part of this project also opens additional opportunities for engineers at Infobip, such as presenting their original research at well-established and prestigious conferences, as well as further pursuing their academic career through industry PhDs with partner universities.
With this joining of engineering and research, we strive to foster an environment in which engineers are encouraged to solve production problems deeply, explore research questions, collaborate with other institutions, and publish their work in order to contribute to the wider technical and scientific community.
